The DIY SOS Big Build team took on its most ambitious project to date when it agreed to transform more than 60 empty houses in Manchester into homes for war veterans.

The BBC1 two-part special, sees the team rally the local community to get stuck in and are also helped by special guests Prince William and Prince Harry, who volunteer on site.

Yale customers, CMS Window Systems and Vista, have lent their support to the impressive refurbishment by providing doors and windows fitted with Yale hardware.

CMS Window Systems, leading window, door and curtain walling manufacturer and installer, have provided all the super energy efficient PVCu windows that have been donated for the war veteran’s homes.

Vista, one of the UK’s largest composite door manufacturers, has installed 14 quality composite doors to the newly refurbished properties during the first phase of the build.

Andy Kerr, CMS managing director, said: “With such an ambitious project for a group in our community that deserves all the support it can get, there was no question that we wouldn’t get involved when the BBC DIY SOS team asked for our help. It’s been a privilege to have played a part in creating these much-needed high quality homes.”

Keith Sadler, Vista managing director, commented: “At Vista we recognise the importance of engaging with local community projects, and were delighted to show our support to such an important cause.”
